Setting

The Fever Code takes place in the future and is a post-apocalyptic world swarming with millions of cranks. The reason the world is in this shape is because of recent solar flares that broke through the Earth’s magnetic field, scorching the land and killing many in the process. The picture below is what is left of a major city in the United States:

But the entire world wasn’t impacted the same. In some places, like the research facility Tomas and the other munies are taken to, almost have the same seasons as before the flares hit.

There is also a deadly disease lose in the world that attacks the human brain. It causes the person to lose their mind slowly until the end up killing themselves or the brain shuts down everything. They call this disease ‘The Flare’. People who contract the disease is called a crank and if they’re insane enough, they’ll try to kill anyone they find, and this world is full of sick people.

That is the job of WICKED. To find a cure for this disease. Most of this book takes place in a WICKED testing facility somewhere in Alaska. There aren’t very many cranks and the scorch doesn’t go that far up north. In this facility, WICKED officials take immune kids and conduct test on them to try and find a cure to save the human race.
