Symbolism

A huge symbol in the book is with the maze. The maze is a complex array of passage ways that are always changing. Then they send teenagers into it. This symbolizes how during teenage years your mind is always changing and sometimes you don’t know where you are headed or what you are doing.

Personification

“The heavy silence hung in the air…” This is an example of personification because the silence could never actually hang in the air.
